First steps

We've all had questions - about life, purpose, and whether God is really there. This short video offers a simple, honest explanation of the message at the heart of Christianity.

What next?

Fixing a broken relationship usually starts with an honest conversation - saying sorry, making a change, and choosing to move forward. It's the same with God. You can talk to Him anytime, anywhere. There's no need for fancy words or a special voice - just speak to Him in your own way, even silently in your head, and He'll be listening.

If you're not sure what to say, here's a simple prayer that's helped many people take their first step toward God.

Information:

Dear God, Thankyou that You died for me and want the best for me in every situation. I'm sorry for ignoring You and doing things my way. I realise now that my sin has hurt You and the people around me and for this, I am truly sorry. Thankyou Jesus that You came and took the punishment for my sin. Thankyou that you gave your life for me. Please forgive me and help me now as I decide to live only for You. Amen

That's a great first step - and you don't have to go on this journey alone. We'd love to support you as you explore faith. Feel free to get in touch or come visit us one Sunday - we'd be so glad to meet you.

Who is Jesus?

Jesus once said, "I have come that you may have life, and have it to the full" (John 10:10). If He really did rise from the dead, then there's real hope - not just for what comes after this life, but for the life you're living right now. This video invites you to explore more about who Jesus is, and why it matters.

Still not convinced Jesus is real?

That's ok, for some people it takes a lot to take that first step of faith. "The Case for Christ" is a book and movie based on the true story of Lee Strobel, a journalist who investigated the claims of Christianity to disprove his wife's newfound faith. Lee Strobel, the author initially set out to debunk the existence of Jesus, but his investigation led him to believe in the Christian faith. Go check it out as it might help.

What is the Bible?

The Bible shows us God's heart for His people - but it's a big book, and knowing where to start can feel overwhelming. This video gives a simple overview of the Bible's big story and how it all fits together.

The Bible holds answers to life's big questions and offers wisdom for every part of life. If you know a Christian, they can help point you to parts that speak to what you're going through - and we'd love to help with that too. A great place to start is the book of John, the fourth book in the New Testament. It's a powerful introduction to who Jesus is and what He came to do.

Why go to Church?

God is all about bringing people together in community. In the book of Acts, the Bible tells the story of the very first church - a group of people united by faith and love. Church is so much more than a building; it's a community to belong to and grow in.

At New Hope Church, we want to be like the kind of church you read about in the Bible - a community that's real, welcoming, and centred on Jesus. If you ever feel like we're not living up to that, please let us know. We're always learning, growing, and seeking to be the best we can be.

What happens on a Sunday at New Hope Church?

Every Sunday we meet for an hour and a half of worship, bible teaching and prayer and provide children's activites for all ages.

Stepping into church for the first time can feel nerve-wracking - we totally get it. But here's a little secret: none of us have it all together. We're all on a journey, figuring out life and faith with Jesus.

If there's anything you need, feel free to tell us in advance - we'll do our best to support you.

Here's what you can expect when you visit:

👕 Come as you are - Wear whatever you feel comfortable in. Most people dress casually - no need to dress up unless you want to.

🤝 No pressure to perform - We won't be offended if you'd rather not chat or make small talk. We want you to feel at home, at your own pace.

🙋 Everyone is welcome - Whether you've never been to church, know nothing about the Bible, or have big questions - you're in the right place.

🏠 A welcoming atmosphere - We do our best to make everyone feel included and comfortable. Our church is more like a big family than a formal event.

🎶 Music and worship - We usually spend a bit of time singing together. It's a way to focus our hearts on God. Sing if you like - loudly or quietly - or just take it in.

📖 Helpful teaching - We aim to keep messages clear, engaging, and relevant - no confusing jargon or assumptions that you "know it all."

👶 Kids are very welcome - We have fun, age-appropriate kids' groups during the service, so you can relax and take part knowing they're cared for. If you prefer to keep them with you, that's completely fine too.

🔊 Noise doesn't bother us - Don't worry if you or your kids make a bit of noise - you won't be judged. Our joy comes from people connecting with God, not running a flawless service.

🌱 We're always learning - We want New Hope to reflect the kind of church you read about in the Bible. If something didn't feel right or welcoming, let us know - we're open to feedback and always growing.

Come and visit us at one of our sites – all are welcome.
